  1. I am a blind user and am having troubles with the bitcalcs. My screen reading software does not work with the bitcalcs that are out there. I was wondering if anyone knew the calculations that I would have to make long hand. I am trying to figure out dvds and svcds and was hopeing if some one could help. I am assumeing there is a way to do it long hand since the calculators had to be made. Thanks a bunch.

  2. I'm not trying to be non-PC here...I'm genuinely curious: Of what use are DVDs and SVCDs to you if you are blind?

Suppose maximum muxed file size desired for example is 805 MB, stream is 60 minutes and desired audio is 224 kilobits per second. (224 kilobits per second/8 kilobits per kilobyte=28 kilobytes per second). For audio portion, 60 minute stream uses 3600 seconds times 28 kilobytes per second =100.8 kilobytes. Subtrack this from desired final muxed stream size 805kB-100.8kB=704.2kB. 704.2 kilobytes = 704.2*8=5633.6 kilobits. Divide this by the number of seconds to get video bitrate 5633.6/3600=1565 kbps.

I don't mean to be critical. Are you the only one "watching" these videos? If so, you could effectively eliminate the bitrate to nearly zero. Hey I got a great idea, you can actually burn DD 5.1 tracks to CD so maybe you could check out my thread called "Where Can I Find An Dolby Digital 5.1 test file" under "Advanced Conversion". For you I'm sure you'd benefit more from a full surround sound.
