is there any way to lower the size of a vob file? my friend let me borrow his backup with two eps that are around twenty minutes each. i ripped my dvd but am getting each ep around 900 megs. anyway i can either a) convert DIRECTLY to a svcd or b)lower the file size? i know i can always use the guides to go to avi then to mpeg. anyhelp will be appreaciated thankx!!!!!

DVD (and so the .vob) containes MPEG-2 with quite a high average bitrate. If you want to reduce the filesize, you have to reduce the bitrate, that means reencode.
I don't think, compressing with WinRAR help much
