  1. Hi everyone I am very new to this. Here is my question. I have some movies that can only be played with realplayer, does anyone know how I can make this movies into SVCD OR VCD I have the nero software and have tryed to do it but I just get a message that says it is an unrecognized format, just don't know if this is possible. Oh! forgot to say that the movies are already burned on a cdr, I made a copy to my harddrive and then tried it from there. Thanks

They are probably in Realmedia format. RM.

Then they need to be converted first

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/convert.htm

This link is on your left there are a couple of mentions of rm to divx.

From there and with some mods you can be on your way to using software like tmpg and nero to get some pretty ugly vcd out of it.

There may be some serious hurdles because of framesize and rates. I wouldn't expect much, most of my rm files were low bitrate and low rez windows thats how they make the files so small.

  3. Thank you I will try it. You said

Is there a better software out there that will do a better job?
When you say pretty ugly vcd maybe I should do it on svcd?
If I turn my speed down to it lowest will that make for better resolution?

Thank you gl99 for your respons.

Sorry, try it if you want I don't want to discourage you. All my tests were done with downloaded cartoons in rm format. They looked barely passable in 352x240 on my PC but ugly on tv. Audio synch problems too.

SVCD won't help if the source is poor. You can smooth things abit with filters but the loss of detail will be obvious. The poblem often is too few frames per second, small input frame size and rm was not designed for this.
