    Hey Guys,

This may be an off topic, but it's somewhat a conversion thing too.

I converted over to XP Pro from w2k. Been running smooth, but for one issue.

I cannot delete any .avi from any of my ntfs partitions. Mpeg's are no problem, it's only .avi's, specifically huffyuv encoded .avi's.

    I have tried everything.

I get the error that a program is still using the file. Even after shutting down and rebooting, then going straight into Explorer and Deleteing it.

I even tried to delete through pcAnywhere from my FTP machine (another box), also from Nero's Explorer, as well as by adding a text file, then clicking that first, then (ctrl) clicking the vid clip, then delete, so if it was some sort of Explorer Preview holding it up, I could get around it............

No luck. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. THanks Guys

Sorry Guys, I'd also want to add...

the profile I am using is an Administrator.

The error message states the file is in use by another program or person...

Thank you again very much !!!!!!!

  3. There are two options that I've used. The first is to boot to safe mode and remove the file.

The other was given to me by a friend. I did it and haven't had the problem since. BEWARE, you are messing with you registry in this fix. I take no responsibility if it messes things up!

Start regedit and remove the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D9 4-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32.

    Good luck!

I will give it a try pronto Bro.

The lowest folder I want to delete, right ? I would guess that I can leave the upper structure and just delete...\InProcServer32 ???

No worries on the dangers. I know them, and that's what Ghost is for right )

Thank you very very much. I'll keep you posted in a minute.

  6. No problem. I found this glitch really annoying and was glad when the fix was suggested to me. Pass it on!
