Hello. I am asking for everyone's recommendation for a first time DVD player in the $200-300 range. I have an older composite input TV (Sony) but would prefer to buy for the future. Therefore, if you recomm. a progressive scan unit, it MUST perform VERY well on a non-digital TV with the older composite input. I've heard bad stories with some units operating in this "degraded" environment. I do not even have component or S-Video input yet....although my smaller backup TV has it. I would be very picky about artifacts/picture quality, sound, and overall quality/performance. I do not like bugs..freezing/lockups, no loads, failure experiences, bad tech support (when required). It must be proven quality, rock solid design and good performance on scratched media. A fair number of features is desireable but not critical. Primarily used for movies and as a CD music player but have CD music burned by friends so ability to read it would be nice.
I would appreciate ANY quality suggestions. Please be as specific as possible right down to the model number.
Best Regards and thanks for the help!
