I have a JVC XV-S60bk, and it plays all vcds fine, but my svcds fail to play. They are jumpy/choppy and hiccup in the player. Aside from re-encoding, I was wondering if there is any way the SVCD could work. I have tried multiplexing as VCD(Non-standard), but it still fails. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I noticed that some ppl who reviewed the player said it can play SVCDs perfectly, so I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong.
My method:
1. Use vcdgear 3.07 to convert from bin/cue to mpeg2.
2. Burn mpeg file with nero @ 4x on Memorex cds.
NOTE: I have tried multiplexing before burning.
Any Help will be appreciated because I really want to avoid buying a new player.

You don't mention the bitrate but sounds like that may be the problem. Try lowering it in stages till you find what your player will handle.
