Wish to capture AVI files.
VirtualDub captures MS YUV 16 bit. When imported into my editor (Ulead VideoStudio6) it will not edit (etc).- reports as unsupported format. VS6 uses "DV Video encoder type 1" (whatever this is) and 24 bits. The imported clip can be rerendered by VS6 (very very slow) into their 24 bit format.
On the other hand VS6 does not want to capture high res AVI, their tech serv sais it is the capturing board's fault. (Xtasy Everything 5564 - NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/Mx400). Where do I go from here, who is passing the bucK?

Under Virtualdub's custom format do any other options open up?
If you are going to process to Mpeg1 after it is recommended that you try the yuy2 format if it's available.
To use the custom format don't use compatibility mode for compression or to capture or it won't work.
