  1. I d/l Shallow Hal dvd rip. At first the sound wouldn't work but I installed the latest nimo codecs and that fixed it. But now I want to convert it to vcd. I used nero and it just crashes....used TMPGEnc and it would only let em open up the video source and not the audio source. Used VitrualDub and it won't let me save the wave file from it.

    This the file info:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you try to load the file into Gold Wave? If you can, save it as a wave file.

You've got an AC3 soundtrack on that file. You need to save the wav file using virtual dub (in audio select direct stream copy and then under the file tab select "save wav")

After you save the .wav file change the extension from .wav to .ac3
After you do this you need to download headac3he and use this to convert it to a wav file. When you have headac3he open, check off the "downsample to 44.1 khz" and click "start" once you have it converted you will have a wav file that tmpgenc will recognize.

If you get any frame synch errors in headac3he that cause it to abort let me know and I'll tell you how to (hopefully) fix it.

  4. I just coverted an AVI file using DvD2SVCD program. When it was finished, I had audio problems with the mpeg file. So I loaded the original video AVI in TMPGEnc and the WAV file created by DvD2SVCD and encoded that togther as a VCD. Worked great, and even the video quality is almost like the original AVI. The only problem with my method is time.
