  1. Hi !

Reading so many different Posts about the GOP for DVD-compliant
CVD-clips and how to change it in CCE I want to sum up things...

    GOP needed: PAL=max15, NTSC=max18

    (I call this: Setting 1
    CCE:
    Under "template settings"/"GOP..." it says:
    /IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB/
    That is: M=3, N/M=5

    (I call this Setting 2
If I set: M=3, N/M=4 it looks like this:
    IBBPBBPBBPBB

Restrict Auto I Frame insertion is NOT checked.

    Question 1:
    Setting 1 is GOP=15
    Setting 2 is GOP=12
    Is this correct?

    Question 2:
If Question 1 is correct can I use M=3, N/M=5 for PAL CVD???

    Question 3:
    CCE-help says:
Restrict Auto I Frame Insertion is "to equalize the length of each GOP"
I thought if I set the GOP structure (with M and N/M) every GOP
    will look the same.
Do I have to activate this option (it reduces picture quality when checked)
to be SURE the GOP structure won't be longer???

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!
And please post only if you KNOW what you are writing!!!!!

THANKS A LOT TO ALL THE PROS THAT ANSWER!!!
    Med.

I am not an expert in CCE (I am not an expert in anything, just an advance user of TMPGenc and some other stuff), but the presets of CCE are OK. CCE's gop structure is smaller that the allowed maximum one for a DVD Video, so there is no problem keep it as is!
Just Keep the default GOP settings and probably you are OK
About question 3: There is no need all gops to be the same, just not to be more 15 for PAL and 18 for NTSC.
For CCE matters, the doom9's forum I think is better VCDhelp's !
