  1. Fellows,

A last cry for help. I have been using TMPGenc for quite sometime but I am still a little bit confused on the video arrange measurements. I live in the US so I am on the NTSC system and I want to take a 4:3 (DV) movie and make into widescreen. What is the measurements I put in the Center frame (custom size) option to make it come out in widescreen?

Yes, I know there a different opinions on this with letterbox & anamorphic etc. but what is the most common? Someone suggested to me to make it 480x384 but that looks a lot larger than widescreen on my regular tv.

Any suggestions where I can read up on these issues or what the two coorect measurements would be to put in that window?

    Pierre!
I'm old, but still going strong!

you would gain no bennifit from this. only detrement.

VIdeo shot in full screen is not ment to be displayed in wide screen, it will look funny.

i suggest checking to see if your camera can film in widescreen.

  3. What you could do is to set the (in tmpgenc) source to 1:1
with "full screen" in "video arrange method" (Notice, NOT keep aspect ratio) and then choose 16:9 display under aspect ratio under the
    "video tab"

This have worked fine for me (using pal svcd 576x480 on a 32" widescreen TV) Viewed on a on my monitor in powerdvd WITHOUT "Keep aspect ratio" it looked like shit though, but it's what seen on the TV that's counts, right?
Take care and be well to eachother
