  1. i ve a weird problem
    and i m using dvd2avi 1.76
    this is my script

    LoadPlugin("c:\winnt\system32\mpeg2dec.dll")
    mpeg2source("c:\dvd\thx.d2v")

I can open a simple divx (with subs wrapped in a avs) in tmpeg or mplayer so i think i avisynth works but not for d2v files created by dvd2avi

i ve tried all diferent versions of mpeg2dec.dll found on the net
    and i m using avisynth 1.6.
TEMPG gives me an error while opening the avs file
and mediaplayer tries to download a codec ... cant not find codec

    please help

  2. Did you install the VFAPI codec from VFAPI reader if not download it from the tools section. And make sure you have VFAPI plugin checked in DVD2AVI in the help section. If you don't have those things done it will not work. Plus the vob files need to be run through DVD2AVI with the VFAPI plug-in checked also so if you didn't have it check the first time you ran it through you will have to do it again.

Also redownload DVD2AVI from the author's website. It seems that the older versions are incompatible with Avisynth. 1.76 should be OK though

It sounds as if Avisynth is not installed properly.

  4. Yeah I forgot about the older versions of DVD2AVI not working with avisynth.

  6. I'm not sure why you say no YUV to either CCE or TMPGEnc - I do both all of the time, and it works fine.

I always use DVD2AVI (1.82) in YUV mode, and use the *.avs file with either TMPGEnc Plus or with CCE 2.5 and have had no problems at all.

(Not saying you don't have a problem with it, just that you shouldn't generalize the answer to everybody).

  7. I don't think YUV is used by TMPGEnc anyways so I think mb1 may be right but personaly I don't use TMPGEnc I use CCE so I am on his side. Not that it can't be done but that it isn't needed.

  8. i ve tried DVD2AVI 1.77
    i ve installed vfapi codec
i ve put ConvertToRGB24 at the last line

and i still can't run my d2v-avs script trough mplayer or tmpeg

    Where can i find DVD2AVI 1.82 ?

I think my avisynth runs good with other wrapped divx files and vobsub ...
But for some strange reason it won't run d2v files trough mpeg2dec.dll

somebody has an idea ? I realy want to get rid of some 40 gigs projects
still waiting to convert to VCD

  9. You need DVD2AVI 1.76 because the mpeg2dec.dll can't read the newer versions because it wasn't released yet but when a newer one comes out you will be able to use 1.77 or maybe higher.

  10. Yes ...
    da pimp is the man
    thx for the fast replys

So to all of the mpeg2dec.dll people , use it with DVD2avi 1.76 !!!
It took me 2 weeks to get it

    Thx a lot everyone

I still have have to add vobsub.dll (+ idx and subs)
I hope it won't take another 2 weeks

  11. No problem I would help you with the vobsub.dll but never used it. If you do need help with it you could try the forums at www.doom9.org there is a section all about using Avisynth there and I'm sure someone from there can help.

    @ TomSem
    and i m using dvd2avi 1.76
That´s what you wrote in your first post.
How do you think should one be able to help you?

You can use all dvd2avi versions which are based on 1.76 d2v-structure:
    - 1.76 (original)
    - 1.82 (modified by ogo)
    - 1.84 (modified by ogo)
    - 1.85 (modified by vlad I think)

But not the new original versions 1.77.1 and 1.77.3 because there the d2v-structure has been changed.

According to the CCE documentation (Page 49), "When decoding an AVI file, Cinema Craft Encoder SP tries first to decode the AVI file in YUY2 format, because if the AVI file can be decoded in YUY2 format, color space conversion will not be necessary, thus the quality of encoded bitstream will be improved."

so if you're not use YUV, you're not getting all the speed and quality you could get.

  15. For TomSem:
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/dvd2avi.html

has the different versions of dvd2avi

  16. VidGuy I do use YUV. What are you talking about? I was talking about TMPGEnc not using YUV. I use YUV for CCE all the time.
