  1. hi guys,

i just wanted to multiplex an .avi file with a new mp3 soundstream but virtual dub won't let me do it

in the description on this side it says:

For AVI, DivX,ASF use Virtualdub, first select File->Open Video File to open the video, then select Audio->WAV Audio to open the audio (YOU CAN OPEN MP3 FILES ALSO). Select Video->Direct Stream Copy and Audio->Direct Stream Copy and last File->Save AVI to save the new video.

so far so good but i CANNOT open mp3 filez with virtual dub......

can somebody help me or tell me what i did wrong or perhaps a description of how to use another programm for multiplexin' an .avi???

    thanx a lot......... :P

That's right, it is not possible so far as I know, despite what you have read. What you can do is use a wav file and recompress that to mp3 for the audio.

It will be big. Just save to a standard 44100 PCM wav. Soundforge is probably overkill, though. Winamp or MMJukebox will serve just as well.

  5. but isn't there any programm that can handle a prob like this??? because burning these 1gig+ filez to a cd-r would be the next prob....

or maybe a prog that converts the mp3-stream to a wav-stream in an acceptable format?

bye the way thanx 4 the fast reply 8)

It's only going to be that big until you recombine it with your DivX as mp3! Then you can delete it.

  7. you mean when using virtual dub it will re-convert the wav to an mp3 stream?

it tried it 4 some moments but the additional size of the avi unfortunately grew and grew and grew... or is the real size not like shown in VD?

You start with avi and uncompressed wav. Load avi. Select Video>direct stream copy. Select Audio>full processing mode. Select Wav audio and browse to wav. Select Audio>compression and choose your mp3 compression. Then File>save avi.
