  2. Specificity and detail are assets when asking questions pertaining to such matters.

Did the AVI play all right on your PC before you encoded it to MPEG-1?

What software did you use to convert the AVI to VCD-compliant MPEG-1?

Did the VCD-compliant MPEG-1 file you encoded play all right on your PC?

What version of Nero are you running?

What brand and model number is your dvd player?

Have you made any VCDs that have played correctly in that player?

Will the VCD that you burned play all right on your PC?

p.s. Please fill out the rest of your "computer details" in your profile; it would have helped a little bit in this inquiry.

  6. I have the same problem.
I have Panasonic RP-62 DVD player. I can hear sound with no VIDEO.
MY Avi that I burnt has very good video quality. It plays fine on DIVX.
But MPG that I burnt doenst play on Windows media player. It can play only sound.
I used TMPGenc to convert avi to Mpeg1.
    I am using NERO 5.0
Most VCDs play well on my DVD player. I havent had any problems.

But did the mpg file play in WMP after you converted from the AVI, but before you burned it to disk as a VCD?

  8. No it didnt play video. All it could play before burning is audio.

  9. Check the "how to - newbie" section (link on the left), then the "tmpgenc common problems" heading. They list a couple of possible solutions.

  10. I have read that. Followed all the instructions, but with no luck.
One basic question, when I select a avi file in TMPG, and go to file preview, should it play the audio and video? How about the MPEGs that it creates, can it preview those?

Try installing the Nimo codec pack or Divx5 - look in 'Tools" on the left... your .AVI might have been encoded with a "newer" (unsupported) codec.
The TMPGenc "File>Preview" will play (.MPG, .AVI, .MOV, etc.) video only - no audio.

  12. Congrats
Are there any other video settings that I need to take care of.
