  1. DVD it PE Error: GOP Header Must be proceeded by a sequence header.

I have a higher-res divx video (640x272) that I want to put on a dvd.

I used tmpgenc and encoded to mpeg2 720x576 25fps (Full screen - keep aspect ratio).

I've done an encode of a minutes worth of the video and want to burn a test dvd-rw and see what its like.

However in DVD it PE (PC version) upon trying to build the DVD Folder I get the error " Each GOP Header must be proceeded by a sequence header".

I have checked in tmpgenc and "Output interval of sequence header" is set to "1". This should be sufficient shouldn't it?

    Thanks

  2. Hey Koops -

I had the same issue. TMPGE for some reason puts some crap in the begining of the mpeg file that causes DVDit to give that error even though the GOP settings are correct.

All you have to do is cut the first frame off of the mpeg and it will work. you can do this by using the mpeg tools in TMPGE. Just go to the cut/join tab and set the 'in" marker after teh first frame.

DVDit should accept the mpeg now with no probs.

    Later bro

  3. I ended up just using ulead dvd movie factory. It demuxed then remuxed the file and that fixed it. Didn't take that long ~ 10-15 mins.

    Evening Koops or anyone else,

I was just wondering about DVD authoring and whatnot, and coming across
your post on the subject, I was hoping ta ask you, if you can try one
of my samples I just uploaded just recently. It's about 14MB and is
in pretty much DVD spec I think. I left out a few things but maybe if
you or anyone else for that matter, could try and AUTHOR it as a DVD
    w/ success on a DVD-R or DVD-RW disk etc.
If it doesn't work, with any of the changes in YOUR DVD aurhor app,
than maybe if you have to, go the bbMPEG route, and MUX as a DVD and
then try again to AURHOR as a DVD disk.
    I'd try myself, but since I don't have a DVD writer/burner, I can't
    See link below.

I need to know if my encodes are ready for DVD and if not, at least I
know I need to make adjustments, etc.

Thank you for trying (or not)

    Koops,

Thanks anways. I knew it was too good ta be true, he, he...
Hope you at least D/L'd the sample for the heck of it.

If anyone else has direct access to a DVD writer/burner, I would appreciate
it if you could try and AUTHOR my sample clip (see above link in pre. post)
to see if my current template encodes AUTHOR to a compliant DVD on a
    DVD-r or DVD-rw, etc. disk.

    Thanks.

  8. DvDit didnt like it. Illegal DvD-fromat, GOP Header error. But I get that with EVERY movie I put through Tmpgenc, its why I gave up on it

Spruce up took it without complaint and its compiling now(good sign)

I'll burn it when its done compiling

Update: Nero says "violation agaist dvd specs detected"

    And stops
Lemme demux them and feed them into Reel

Update: Reel gives me the following error when trying to load it

Error : Number of fields (210) in GOP(# 1) or between sequence_header_code should be equal or smaller than 36.

Last thing I can try is burning it as a data dvd with the video_ts and audio_ts directories Spruce gave me(just to see if the dvd-rw will run in my standalone)

    That worked
Plays as a dvd on my Apex 1500 by burning it as a data disk with the video and audio directories spruce gave me. But this damn Apex plays anything =)
    Looks pretty good too

Recap. DvDit hated it, DvDreel wouldn't take it(a 1500 dollar professiona tool.) Spruce up would compile it, but Nero wouldn't burn it as a dvd-video, had to do it as a dvd-data disk

    Raen,

    Thanks for taking the time.
I just finished reading a response to my post in another thread
under "VHELP - "DVD author..."" and another user was able to
author using DvDit. So, this person may have done something a
    little different or not.

I started the thread over head on this subject:
VHELP - "dvd authoring" test for me ??

...case you wanna continue contributing, and thanks again.

max GOP size for ntsc is 18 and PAL is 15 ..

some authoring apps want every GOP closed and some don't ......

error above tells me that you are burning a NTSC file and that your GOP size is to large (max frames in a GOP - if you set this to 15 you will be safe) and that you perhaps should enter a "1" in "output of interval seq."

try both closed and open GOP settings in your test with your authoring application.
