  1. i encoded an svcd, and when i cut it into 2 cd's, it came out as a random file with no extension...i renamed it to an mpg file, and it played perfectly fine in powerdvd, however, when i burnt it to an svcd with nero, it wouldn't play in my dvd player....rather, it just loaded up as an mp3....please shed some light

    thanks

If you selected the SVCD compilation in Nero and it accepted the file as valid, it will produce a standard compliant SVCD. Provided you had the *finalise CD* box ticked, problems playing suggest that your player may not play SVCD. I have never had a VCD or SVCD produced by Nero which would not play in a player capable of playing (S)VCDs. If there was a problem with your mpg, Nero would not have accepted it.

I think probably what you have done is burn the mpg as a data CD using the CD-ROM(ISO) compilation. You can check this by examining the *SVCD* on your PC. If it just shows the mpg, then this is what you have done.
