  1. I have seen lots of these "Build your own TV Descrambler" plans on the internet for a long time now.(parts supposedly available at Radio Shack) I usually don't get suckered too much on stuff, but this has my interest up.
It sounds if nothing else like a fun project to try at least.

    Any info?

    Thanks

I would think that it would be much easier to use the TV card in your computer and some software to do the descrambling...

Go to the newsgroups and search for the name of the program to download. Then search for the program.

  5. If you want a good project, get a satellite dish reciever and learn how to program cards. I am not going to say exactly what I mean but, There were alot of people who figured out that if you hack the little data card your dish could pick up everything. And its alot safer for you, there is no cable going into your house. Its undetectable for the most part.

  7. Cable companies are trying to really crack down, and they do periodically scan for "unauthorized" boxes. If they find it, it will show where abouts you are. They do that in my community. I pay for cable so I'm not afraid. If you go satellite, you just buy the equiptment( a couple hundred$$$) and get a card. You may be able to find a group that offers the software for the card for a download for free.

  8. Are you saying to also subscribe to something like Direct TV or some other satellite company?

Or can you just buy the dish, and make some adjustments with the card and see if it works?

  9. I cant go into tech details with you, but I will say no you dont need the service to buy the dish and reciever. You can find them real cheap in your local classified ads. Most people then I hear either buy a smart card(300.00 for a lowend one to 600.00 for the full package) or you can buy a blank smart card and a card programmer and learn how to create its software. That would be a tougher challenge than putting together one of those little descramblers. You could search in groups on the net that do these things al the time.

But I am not supporting and/or in agreement with those who use these devices. And becareful who you associate with online.
