  1. I'm getting the Dazzle DVC II, so can anyone tell me how the DVD output quality on tv compares to cards like AIW or other Mpeg2 decoder cards.

    System:
    PIII933@1001
    256MB P133CAS2
    Abit SA6Raid
    CL Geforce 2 Pro 64MB(non-tvout)

As I have never tried any of the other cards you mentioned, I can only state that I have never regretted getting the DVCII - was money well spent.

  4. You might want to make your own templates. I made a SVCD template at 480x480, 2320bitrate and 244k 44khz sound. This gives me DVD quality SVCD's. I find tho that the sound sometimes lags the video by 100ms. Easy to fix. Demux with TMPeg (approx 2min for 2hr capture) and mux with BBmpeg. Set BBmpeg at SVCD, change sound delay from 180 to 30ms, set the total file size in sec and max file size at 790 for 80min cd and 750 for 74min. A 2hr movie gives me approx a 2.2G file and BBmpeg cuts this to two full cd's plus whats left on the third. You won't believe the quality.

i had both threw ati in trash

you shouldn't have to encode as anything
click on the vhs icon to initalize
import video to the media work space
double click your media to play
    press record on the vcr
