  1. Hello,

I have two problems that is driving me crazy and I ha tried searching the site but I can'rt make sense of it.

    Problem 1:

I live in the U.S so I am using the NTSC standard. I want to be able to convert my fisihed AVI files and resize them into widescreen size with bars. I understand how to do most of it but I am a little iffy when it comes to source aspect ratio: In this box should I put the 4:3 NTSC 525 and then in video arrange should I do Center custom size and clip the bars?

Question one: what custom size should I do? I tried with 480x320 and it came out in widescreen on my TV but I don't know if I am cutting anything. (320x240 is tto small - I make all my movies to SVCD 480x480 res)

    Problem 2:

I have a bin & cue movie tha requires overburn to burn. I do not have that so I have tried to extract the bin with CDmage etc and then I want to cut a little bit of the MPEG2 so I can burn it again but it doesn't seem to be a workable MPEG2 because I can't play it. I tried the same with virtual daemon and I can doi it from there.

    Question 2:

Is there a program that can extract MPEG2 and the I can cut that down so it will fit on an 80 minute CD? (D-TOX 80.25 : 80.35)

  2. Pierre, I cant help with the first question but on the second one try this:
Download VCD gear, convert the bin to mpeg, then trim it or re encode it with tsunami to get the file size lower. Good luck with the size issues, I have trouble with that also.

  3. Thanks for helping me. I didn't know that VCDgear extracted MPEG1 and MPEG2. That is really a great program. Just dropped that MPEG back into TMPGE and voila, make fit on 80 min CDR 99%....

    Perfect..

On the other question, I am stiull confused. What is the video arrange method I should use if I want to take a fullscreen and make it wide screen in TMPGE? I tried 480x320 but that makes it a little too flat. I don't know if 320x240 works but that just makes it small on the screen. Is there another function I am missing such as clip or 3:2 pulldown? Should I center the frame or do center custom size.. ?

  4. The program FitCD will tell you how to do it.

    Usually it's

    480 x 384 to convert from 16:9 TO 4:3

Of course, if you're using TMPGEnc, just set the source aspect to 16:9 (advanced tab) and the destination aspect to 4:3 (video tab) and use one of the "keep aspect" types (usually
    full screen keep aspect ratio).
