  1. Can tmpgenc trial version create VCD at lower bitrate then the 1150
that seems to be the default.

    I have a 1 hr 15 minute video that I want to fit on a 700MB cd.

    I tried to use a bit rates of 900 , 700 and 600.

They all produce the same size file.

Is it because I am using the trial version ... 56

79 minutes will easily fit on a 700MB CD using the standard VCD templates. It doesn't matter that the mpg produced is way over 700 MB.

And the reason you are getting the same filesize is that you must set the System - Stream Type to MPEG-1 non-standard when you are making an XVCD.

TMPGEnc will pad the file out with zeroes otherwise.

  4. Heh, I've Seen This Before...

There is a Guide here at VCDHelp that explains how to fit a movie onto one CD-R. One line that is sometimes overlooked involves a particular tab in TMPGEnc - Setting | System | System stream setting. Once there, choose the option Stream type | MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard) from the drop-down menu. Even if you have unlocked a template, even if you have set a nice low bitrate like 900 kilobits per second, if this is still set to MPEG-1 Video-CD, TMPGEnc will pad the file to fill the 1050 Kilobits per second standard for VCD. That is why your file gets so big, when bitrate calculators say otherwise. I hope this helps!

Remember, if your movie is only 1hr 15 mins, this will easily fit on one CD using the standard VCD template! 8)

  6. Actually I do exactly what your saying with divx movies alll the time the file size says the same what you do is just simple multiplex it and the file size will be correct I dont know why tempgenc does that but I always have to simple multiplex it, but that only takes a second hope I wasnt too confusing Im in a hurry
