I have an MPEG-1 file that I want to use that is 457MB. With just the file, when I update the project size, it says 1.36 GB and won't let me make it any smaller using the audio and video settings.

But I do want more than just the movie on the VCD, I wanted to have menus, chapter selections, and backround music but there is no way I can do this if the movie itself won't fit.

Does anyone know how or why the file expanded from 457MB to 1.36GB?

  2. I haven't a clue
I'm trying DVDIT myself and it won't let me add other mpegs
because the link to an mpeg is broken

    I deleted the file
and now it just won't let me add any others to the media section of dvdit

    hi,

had the same sort of problem with dvit myself...

try selecting under project settings : set project size ; 4.7gb (dvdr)

then when you have finished adding your files, under build select : make dvd folder and save to your hdd... the file size should be smaller than dvdit said.

to be honest, if you are making vcd, have a look at vcd easy or roxio videopack 5.. i have had some great results with videopack on vcd, dvd and svcd

  4. It may have something to do with the audio, I use DVDiT but change my audio to bitrate 192/dual digital. To do this click on build, select audio and make the change, you should do this each time you do a build, if you don't DVDiT will force PCM which creates a bigger file.
