  1. Hi -

I have been capturing some music videos off MTV etc. The audio once compressed is terrible. I have talked to other rippers who have told me they take a MP3 of the song and use it. My understanding is that he takes the original audio out of premier to a wav file. He then takes the MP3 and the original into a program (i think soundforge?) and syncs them. He then exports the file out of the program as a WAV and using some program to multiplex the audio with the video.

My question is what program does he use to sync it, and multiplex it back into the video. Are there any free ones? Also, if this process is incorrect or if there is a better way, please suggest!

    Thanks.
    Ty

If your video is to be an mpeg-1 or -2, you may want to consider TMPGEnc. The multiplex functions (simple and standard) are MPEG Tools selected from the "File" menu.

The MPEG-2 function is disabled after 30 days, but you can use the -1 function as long as like. You must buy the TMPGEnc Plus program to get the -2 function again once it expires.

  3. I already posted my way of doing this....

if you captured as mpg1, and want to overdub with a mp3, convert the mp3 in .mp2 44100hz 224kbs (tmpgenc can do that easily) then sync it under an editor program; MSPro6.5 do a good job......
    You don,t need SF5 if you take a mp3....

    Bonne chance....

When you say mpg1, do you mean video with no audio? When I capture I capture with the audio... So using TMPG i can export a mp2 of the audio, then use MSPro to sync the new audio with the old... then I have a new mp2 file(or wav?). So how do I put the audio back with the video?

    Thanks.

An MPEG-1 file has audio and video. But when you are converting it in TMPGEnc, just select the file as the video portion.

And as for audio, why would you want to change a perfectly good mpeg-3 file to something else? Why not just select "Browse", change file type to "All", find your -3 file, and load it that way?

I was under the impression a mp3 file could not be in a mp2 video... ?
