Your going to start up an old AMD V Pentium WAR again, which we have seen over and over again. Get what you think is the best.

    P.S you wont beat a P4

  3. Your best bet is - to go to various hardware review sites, where they will run MPEG-2 video and MP3 encoding tests. Tom's Hardware is just one of many sites.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. i only been buying intel for all my computing years... but my first amd is a athlon xp 1800+... this thing can do 1.5x in cce while my p4 1.8ghz can only get about 1.3-1.4 tops
maybe its my background programs on the older system but from now on i'll be buying amd, especially w/ them mobo's with the heat protection deal...

    AMD: Cheaper, easy upgradable
Pentium 4 (the new ones only): More powerfull, much more expensive, "upgrade" is an unknown word for Intel.

    The choise is your!

Yes, for 2 processors that are the same speed (Mhz rating) the AMD one will do more work.
