I have been attempting to reencode a divx avi to svcd. Reencoded the video with tmpgenc, no problem. But the original audio stream is 56kbps 24000 Hz MPEG2 Layer III Joint Stereo. I demux'ed it from the avi with virtualdub, and want to remux with the mpeg video without reencoding the audio. (I stripped the wave header from the vdub output).
I realize that, being MPEG2 audio, this isn't standard svcd, but I've got an Apex AD1500 and want to test if it will play this. I'm pretty sure it will. (I mean, it will play pretty much any mp3 I throw at it.)
Anyway, TMPGenc refuses to mux the mpeg2 video with the mpeg2 audio, even selecting mpeg-2 program system instead of svcd. And bbMPEG gives an error when it starts to scan the audio - "Error in MPEG stream at offset (bits) 13: supposed marker bit not found". Yet the audio file plays fine in winamp, wmp, and irfanview.
So, any suggestions?

im sure you found the answer by now but here is a reply anyways...
you HAVE to resample the audio to 44100 or 48000 (non compliant but will play in most players) and maybe some other modes will work. but even my kind apex would not play 24000 khz correctly (actually it played the sound ok but the video went at 1/2 speed) after i forced it to mux. i then used besweet to fix the audio (ssrc.dll) and all was golden.. bbMPEG took it without a problem
