CVD on Thomson DTH-5000, possible?

I hope this is the right forum for this post.

I have ripped/encoded a short scene to test PAL CVD (352 x 576, Manual 2-pass VBR) on DTH-5000, and it works just fine.
I use DVD2AVI, VirtualDub and TMPGenc Plus.

Would such a short scene successful test be sufficient for me to encode the whole movie?
Encoding the whole movie (Blazing Saddles) would take around 12 hours on my PC.
