  1. I got a 333mhz k62 with 96mb ram. How much faster will my svcd encoding be if i upgrade to a 1ghz athlon w/128 mb ram.
    What exactly makes encoding faster, the ram or processor.
    It would be really nice if someone could help me out.

    well.....i got a duron 800 with 512 MB of ram.......encoding has been at the same speed since when i had 128 mb of ram...might be a lil faster...but nuthing that i noticed......but i would deffinately upgrade processors if ur planning on encoding......ram is so cheap right now u can get a grip of it.......i got my ram for like $30 for 256mb pc133

  3. If you are talking about encoding, increasing processor speed will make a huge difference. I upgraded on one computer from a 400 mhz. to a 1.2 ghz, and it's phenomenal the increase in processing speed. Prices are soooo cheap right now, I would strongly encourage you to do it if you plan on lots of video processing.

  5. the speed increase you would get would blow you away, but get 256 meg of ram, ram is so cheap it would be crazy not to, encoding takes alot of ram
