I just recieved my Supertek MP-2001V today and wanted to give feedback to those who might be interested in getting one. Nicknamed "AV Baby" this player seems very much worth the $79 I spent. It played my MP3s and audio cds perfectly. VCD playback is flawless with both picture and sound as good as I've seen. This unit is very small and comes with lots of extras(a/v cables. earphones, case, etc.). To keep from sounding like a commercial click on the following url for all relevant info:
http://mp3playerstore.com/buy_it_now__/mp-2001.htm
One setback is this unit DOES NOT play svcds, nor does it claim to. I know this is a make or break feature for some and I wanted to be clear about it. Still, there are many features and extras ths player has that the link above can explain a lot better than I can so check it out.

I also bought the same unit and was not as satisfied. VCD's very disc dependent (not like my home units-APEX 5131 and 1100W) with alot of skipping and freezing (actually my kids "it's skipping" yells drove me to quit using it in the car). It is now funtioning as an MP3/CD player, and does a good job at that.
Get the Koss from Target for $79-it plays VCD and DVD without problem and is only slightly larger. -
I know from experience that two people who buy the same exact item(tvs, cars, vcd players etc.) can have two completely different experiences. Whether your player was the exception or mine was I don't know. All I can say is this player hasn't disappointed me yet.
I can't argue that a portable dvd player at the same price wouldn't be a better purchase although I didn't like the KOSS at Target. Maybe they had a different selection at your Target but the ones at mine were pink and some had flower decal images on the unit itself. There was about 8 boxes on display and all had the same appearence. Please post if your unit looks normal(i.e. black, silver).
Also, I asked the kid working there if it plays svcds and he said no. He claimed he had tested it himself and was unsuccessful. The Supertek doesn't play svcds either so you still have to give the dvd player the edge. -
My Koss player played SVCD without a hitch. The blue flourescent is definately obnoxious, but I can live with it. Played DVD's, VCD's flawlessly on a long trip with kids.

I just got my Supertek "AV-Baby" via DHL on Thurs (overnight should have arrived on Wednesday). Purchase problems abound from what appears to be the only place on the net to buy (mp3playerstore.com). Oh, and even better than that? They charged my card twice, so my credit card fraud department called me to let me know. I guess in life you take your chances, huh?
Here's my experience: Buy this player, but be aware of the following in order:
1. Regular CD's play fine, however the 10 second skip protection (more like 2 seconds) absolutely stinks. I haven't seen a player with such poor skip protection since the 90's.
2. VCD's kinda play. Much like another model from NAPA, you have to tweak the settings to get them playing without annoying skips. In my case, in ATI MMC, set up a VCD template with 1.0 MBPS, rather than the 1.05 theirs already is. About 5-10 skips per CD still exist. Haven't had the same luck in TMPGenc yet, still working on that. It did, however, play all my different CDR/RW just fine, burned at 10x.
3. MP/3: Forget about it. Remember the sound from the original Star-Trek's transporter? You know the one...Kirk says "energize" then it starts? Well all you trekkies out there, you will be pleased to know that this player lets you enjoy that sound all the time while playing your MP3's! At low or high volume - it's there. For anyone who has other mp3 players (like I do), you will be disgusted with the output from this player.
Overall: This player is a toy. I would return it, but frankly wonder if my money would be refunded (see first paragraph). I think the NAPA is made by the same no-name chinese company, so I assume I am stuck with this junk-ola. Maybe someone on E-Bay would actually want this thing.
