  1. I'd like some serious suggestions here. I'm "backing up" Star Trek:TNG Season 2 onto vcds. Is there a way to rip the title sequence for use on all my vcds? Not the Episode Title sequence, but the Title that plays when you play the DVD. Thanks for any help.

The opening is on the DVD,but smartripper, etc. exclude it. Rip the nonmovie vob's to your harddrive, you'll be able to play them from the HD and find the one your looking for. Convert that file to mpeg and save on your HD for future use. Put it as #1 in your layout and the movie as #2. I'm doing it now.

  8. Use DVD Decrypter to decrypt the entire disc (all the vob files).

The opening menus to STTNG are located in VTS_01_0.VOB

Rip the disk in Smartripper backup mode. You don't need to rip the whole disk. You can stop Smartripper once it has extracted the first VOB. That VOB contains all the menu screens that you see while playing the disk. The startup sequence you want is in that VOB. To extract that file you need VOBEDIT,open that VOB and demux file in cell mode, that will extract all the individual sequences to separate VOB's. One of them,I think it's the third one is the file your want. Run it in POwerDVD or any other software player to confirm. Then convert in what ever way you normally do. This worked for me and I'm encoding all my TNG svcd's with this opening sequence.

  12. A point of note:

The still images of the subsequent episode menus (e.g., main menu, audio select menu and chapter select menus) are actually located in VTS_02_0.VOB, VTS_03_0.VOB and VTS_04_0.VOB (for episodes 2, 3 and 4 on the disc).
