  1. got a vcd which has the following dir structure:
    entries.vcd
    info.vcd
    lot.vcd
    lot_x.vcd
    psd.vcd
    psd_x.vcd
all the files are around 40bytes to 16kbytes(these are only files displayed in explorer window)

on the cd cover it mentions that this vcd is digitally mastered from original dvd.

i have tried to play it using media player6.4, zoom player 2.4,
creative playcenter 1.52(recognises the disc as vcd but is unable to play it),
    PowerDVD v2.55.0620 (demo)
    VaroDVD v1.34 (demo)
WinDVD 2000 v2.3 (readme says supports DVD, MPEG1&2, SVCD, VCD, Audio CD, MP3.)(demo)
none of the prgs were able to play the disc even thoug it works fine on my friends standalone (aiwa/akai)vcd player.
can anyone tell me what kind of vcd is this and which player to use to play this vcd and moreover where is the large mpg\dat file normally found in vcds ,also if i want to backup the movi to my hdd which s/w should i use.

If you can....obtain a copy of PowerDVD 4....if it's MPEG, this proggie will play it.

As for your problem, are the files you describe in the root of the CD or under some sort of folder structure? Those files are VCD files but the root of your VCD should have the folders EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT and VCD. The DAT file is stored in the MPEGAV folder.

The other possibility is the your CD-Rom reader is having problems with the VCD. The DAT file is stored on a second track on the disk....maybe your reader has a problem with this. Have you tried the disk in another computer ?
