Hi,
I downloaded a VCD in bin/cue format...the bin is actually 825 megs..Nero won t burn it..too big.
So do I have to extract the image file, split the video so it fits on one CD or is there a way to fit 825 on a regular 80 min CD?
THanks

most image files are around that, its normal, i recommend you mount the image file with Daemon Tools and do a disc to disc copy, or if you want to add your own menus and chapters, mount the image file in daemon tools and copy the mpeg file to My Documents or wherever, then open up VCD Easy and convert it to a true Mpeg using cdxa2mpeg in the tools section of VCD Easy, this will give you roughly a 795mb mpeg, which you can author using VCD Easy or Nero.
hope this helps

Yes bins are typically larger than the amount of data that actually gets written to the disk. Still it is possible that the image is too large. Load the bin in an imaging tool like CDMage and see what the playtime of it is. As long as its ~80 mins or less it will fit on an 80 cdr without overburning. Any larger than that and it will depend on your burner and cdr media whether or not you can burn it.
Nero is really not very good at burning bin and cue images. Alot of the time it will work but there are some images it just cannot burn correctly. Its best to use a program that accepts bins natively like CDRwin, CDRAO, or fireburner. -
Thanks for the info guys, I've been having the same question I think. I'm trying to convert a .dat file to normal .mpg format and burn that to a new cd that my DVD player will accept. I used VDCEasy to do the convert and the .mpg file is 782mb and I'm not sure how to get that on a normal cd. I'll try using the programs you mentioned...CDRwin, CDRAO, or fireburner and see if I can get it to work. The actual size of the original .dat file was only 693mb. So is this a normal issue when converting from .dat to .mpg? Thanks for any additional info or ideas!

782mb is fine to put on a CD, use VCD Easy to do it, is the file mpeg1 or mpeg2, use something like Power DVD if you dont know,or Virtual Dub, if it dont work in Virtual Dub then its Mpeg2.
Once you know add it to whatever type of disc your making and add your menu chapter if you want them, clickon go to create an image file and burn that with one of the programs Adam mentioned, you could use VCD Easy to do it, but not many people can use it, i personally cant but i think Adam once said he can.

Thanks Martyn1980, the file is an mpeg1 format. I'm keeping everything in the VCD standard mode, I'm just trying to get it from a .dat file to a standard VCD 2.0 .mpg so that my DVD player will hopefully recognize it and play. I'm pretty new to all this though and learning as I go. It just threw me to have a file bigger than the one I started with and not be able to burn it to a normal cd. There are a lot of guides about DVD to VCD but not a lot of info about what I'm tring to do. But I'm reading everything and trying to piece it all together.
I'll try and use those other programs that Adam talked about and see where that get's me. I've never created an image file, I've just done normal direct burning with Easy CD Creator 5 Plat. So I'll try one of the other programs. Thanks again for your suggestions!
