  1. would like to take divx movies off computer and put on vhs. Do not want to take the time to make vcd. Have s-video out on comupter. Is there a cable that will convert an s-video cable for the inputs on the vcr????

  2. Sure, just use an S-Video-to-composite-video cable. You'l also need audio cables, as S-video carries no audio (but you probably knew that already). This cable is just one example (you can doubtless find similar cables for less):

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. Great!!!! Thank you for your help. No, I did not know there was such a cable. I bought a cable from the site & will let everyone know how it works. I will be able to record everything off my computer without spending hours encoding & stuff. Just the other day, I upgraded nero & it works, but now it tell me I have to encode just about every mpeg before I can burn & if i turn the compliance off the sound is messed up. Anyway, no more.

    Thank you

  4. When I use power dvd, or WinDvd, and I try playing a fairly new dvd in my computer. I get an error message saying that I cannot play the dvd due to a tv- out port being detected on my computer. I have a Voodo3, as well as a Radion 32mb DDR, and an Ati rage 128, (not all in at the same time) all three have tv-out.

I cannot play the dvd's until I disable tv-output. It's not really a problem. I encode, and burn onto vcd's, but my uncle is the one trying to put them onto vhs.

Just wondering if anyone knew about this.

Macrovision, you can't copy DVD's to VHS.

  6. To Greg12:

If your video card won't allow playback through video out (and you have enough hard drive space) just rip the DVD to your hard drive, removing macrovision. Most tv out video cards will not prevent de-macrovisioned video from leaving your PC, only the original disc which is copy protected.

Once the DVD is on HD you can just play it back with PowerDVD.
