  2. it wont allow you to burn using spruce
but you can take the vob's and such and use nero or whatever to burn the dvd video itself... i heard nero sucks but it works everytime... i'm actually looking for prassi... is recordnow its successor?

  4. I just successfully completed my first oversized DVD........no sync problems......no jerking images. My main problem was my older 1ghz computer couldn't handle Rempeg. It would error at 100%. I am using a 2ghz Pentium with a Pioneer A03 burner. My process was:
Smartripper >REMPEG >Spruceup. I don't know exactly what it was with the old computer and REMPEG but everything went flawlessly with the Pentium. I used Independence Day for the test due to it's 2.5 hour runtime. Here are the spec differences on the 2 systems:
OLD: Compaq Presario 7998, 1ghz AMD Athlon, 512mb Ram, Pioneer A03 Burner.
    NEW: Compaq Presario 8000, 2ghz Pentium 4, 768mb Ram, Pioneer A03 Burner.
I would appreciate some input about the reason the 7998 wouldn't do it.

    Hey, menaceboy,

Why would something "suck" when it works everytime? That seems like a recipe for success, to me.

And yes, I believe that RECORDNOW is Prassi's successor.

People are saying that NERO "sucks" in posts because later versions will NOT let you burn a non-compliant DVD. All this feature does is help prevent a novice (or an expert) from making DVD-R "coasters". A lot of DVD players "expand" on the actual DVD specs and are tolerant of non-compliant burns - however, players still exist that are NOT tolerant of this type of burn.

Personally, I appreciate the DVD "check" before I try to burn a DVD-R - it has probably saved me from more than one coaster (and so far, I have had none). I just wish that the error message that popped up would give a little more detail on exactly where the problem is, ie, instead of the dreaded "DVD-Video File Allocation Error", maybe something like "ERROR: Number of Video Title Sets Presented does not match Number in VIDEO_TS.IFO "VMGR_VTSI" Folder" or something like that.

  8. i love that dvd check, it lets me playback my dvd-r's in my ps2, i once bypassed it cause it gave me an error when i trimmed a .vob to a certain filesize with a file cutter.. said something about dvd 2kbyte spec or something... and it worked in my apex set top player but not my ps2,,, nero rulez
