where is the subtitle filter located in Virtualdub???????

I cannot find the filter for subtitles in virtual dub. If I go to video>filters, I get a blank screen, if I chose add then a list comes up but nothing about subs, like it says in the tutorial at the left. Can someone help me please? I am about to throw this thing away.......I am doing this for a deaf friend and am completely lost

btw, my filter choices are:

2:1 reduction ( high quality), 2:1 reduction, 3x3 average, blur more, blur, box blur, bright/contrast, deinterlace, emboss, field bob, field swap, fill, flip horizontally, flip vertically, general convolution, greyscale, invert, levels, motion blur, null transform, resize, rotate, rotate 2, sharpen, smoother, temporol smoother, threshold, and TV.

Please give some guidence.......

I think you have to download the VirtualDub subtitling filter separately. Check the HOW TO links to the left for direction. You might try looking around the Filters section at VirtualDub.org as well.
