ATI AIW and Ulead MSP 6 + DVD Plugin

Has anyone successfully used AIW MMC 7.1 to capture an MPEG-2 file that can be used by MSP 6?

My captures using ATI's MMC 7.1 seem to work fine (no dropped frames, looks good in Windows Media Player etc.) but the only capture setting that is able to be used by Ulead Media Studio Pro 6 is VCD. I'm able to capture at much higher quality and my goal is SVCD...

I've found that if I put my captured MPEG-2 file from MMC 7.1 using "Best Quality" (480 x 480, 8 mbps) through TMPGEnc and use the SVCD template, I can then use the file in Ulead MSP6. This means a total of ~8 hours to prepare 1/2 hour SVCD.

The DVD plugin for MSP 6 is nice so I'd like to capture directly from the AIW MMC 7.1 and plop it right into MSP 6 so I can export to the DVD plugin with only one MPG conversion. Any time I try to use any captures other than VCD from the AIW MMC 7.1, the audio stream is not present.

Can I use a different codec in MMC 7.1 to fix this problem? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I've got an answer to my own question... I emailed Ulead support about this issue several days ago and recently received a reply with a new version of mpeg2.dll attached. I suppose this is a new codec which is more "flexible" and can handle the captures from the ATI AIW MMC 7.1 just fine. If anyone needs a copy for Uleade Media Studio Pro 6.0.0.2 (aka MSP) just reply to this post so I get an email notification... I'll send the dll to you.

Hi msenkbeil. I'm having problems loading my DVDs ans SVCDs files to DVD plugin of Media Studio PRO. (Error in reading frame #) Maybe and only maybe this dll could be my solution. Thanks for the posting.....
