  1. Hi,

I just bought an ATI TV-Wonder VE ($39 after a mail in rebate!).

So far I like it. Installation was a snap on WIN XP and it seems to be working as advertised. I do get the annoying wavy picture that changing my color depth back and forth fixes, but so far thats it.

I am downloading MMC 7.6 as I type this and was wondering if I should uninstall 7.1 first?

Also I got around the "mono" tuner issue by just running the tuner from my VCR through the composit video and running the stereo output to the line in on my sound card. Picture and sound quaity are very good, actualy better than the buit in tuner.

Would I be better to get the full PCI version? The Svideo in is kind of mute since I will be going from the composit out on my VCR mostly.

I really got the card to archive my old VHS tapes. The tuner is a bonus.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

  2. Hi devnulllore,

S-Video in and stereo TV tuner are only difference between VE and
full PCI version. You gonna use none of these features, so, I do not
see any reason to spend extra money for full PCI version.

    Mark.

  3. Actualy, I have been browsing and channel surfing with this thing and I find that most of the channels sound crappy, especialy the music channels.

Also when using the Guide + (a feature I really like) it does not work well with the way I have things setup to get stereo.

I also realized that I have a video enhancing device I like to use that has Svideo out, so when I dub my VHS to VCD I can tweak the quality.

These things in consideration, I think I will upgrade to the full PCI version.

    Thanks,
