Virtual dub error message help please...

I dl a movie and want to add in subtitles. I was following the guide from the Edit section on the left but got an error message from Virtual Dub that says,

"VD has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI audio file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to a 12688 ms skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate 140.9 +/- 15.7 kbs)"

My question is what do I do next? Can you give me an example of a constant bitrate encoder? Should I encode the file to MPEG before I try putting in the subtitles? I'm lost.....

Yep I must have posted a reply to the same thing 500 times, BUT !!

You need to save out the audio, uncompressed

2 methods

1st method
Audio > full processing mode
Audio > compression > Uncompressed
Audio > conversion > 44.1Khz
SAVE WAV

2nd method
Audio > direct stream copy
SAVE WAV
Now you need to covert the output to an uncompressed WAV

Now use the WAV with the original AVI in TMPGEnc

Well the AVI as it is, was no use, so you now have the .WAV ready for use, however if you add SUB's the the video at this stage you may end up with lip sync. But you need to try it, follow the guides as you did before on adding SUB's since this needs to be done in full processing mode, maybe your output for the AVI should be uncompressed video.

When you have the SUB's on your video, you will have a choice of using the original AVI and the built in audio, or subsisting the WAV you saved.

Well your probably using the second method if the audio is AC3 and "you" cannot do this in Vdub
