I've recently bought the BUZZ capture card and well...it works.
My question is what resolution is a standard HI-8 footage so that I can initially capture in the best I can.
There are settings like KB per frame (default is 44kb per frame going upto 200kb). There are 3 resolutions - 2 of which are 3nnx2xx and one which is about 700xsomething.
You may have guessed I'm not near my home PC right now.
Space is not an issue. As a test I've saved a 5 minute clip on 200kb per frame and the 700x resoultion and it's created a 750mb AVI file. I used nero to burn it as a VCD- took a bit of time, but I think there is still room for improvement, but I don't know how.
I tried to use TMPGENC to burn the VCD, but for some reason the picture is all lines and strong colours when I view it through this software so I left it.

if you want to use TMPG frameserve from virtual dub first
the problem is probably that TMPG doesnt know how to properly read the file
virtual dub will fix that-I have to do the same thing on my AVIs produced by a miro card
