  1. Just today I finished encoding 2 avi files to mpeg2 using tmpgenc 2.56 and in both mpeg files there is an audio gap at about the same position. First I thaught it was my original file so I re-exported it from scratch and looked at it in detail before encoding, it had no problems, so I proceded with encoding. Unfortunately it did the same thing at the same time. Has anyone have any idea why is this? The video and audio quality are great but it is just this damn audio gap...

My files are over 2g and less than 2.5g (avi, 720x480, 30fps, 48khz).

I assume by avi you mean divx? Did you decompress your audio to wav before encoding? If not then read the divx to vcd/svcd guides because I believe this is step one.

I think the fact that this problem occurred in similar positions in two separate instances is just a coincidence and not an indication of what the problem is.

  3. Mmmm, they are not DivX but Microsoft DV and I have encoded both files twice and it gives me the same problem, I think it is too much coincidence for me. There must be something rong but I just cant find it...

Sorry my mistake, I overlooked where you listed the filesizes so obviously they aren't divx and that changes everything.

My only suggestion is to try and encode just the audio stream to .mp2 and see if the problem is still there. Also I would try encoding in toolame instead. Besides being higher quality than TMPGenc, I think it is more stable as well. You can use toolame as an external plugin in TMPGenc also, (Option/Environmental setting/external tool/layer 2/load toolame.exe.

If the audio comes out ok than demux one of the mpegs you already encoded (I hope you didnt delete it) and then remultiplex the video stream in with this new audio stream (File/mpeg tools/simple multiplex.)

The problem is obviously with the audio. Whatever you do from here only do it to the audio. Re-encoding the video again is only a waste of time.
