  2. an SVCD preset is easy enough to set up. 2.28Mbps, MPEG-2, 44.1khz, IBP 15/3 and you're about ready to go. plus, there's no 'standard bitrate' like in VCD. it could be 2.3, 1.8, 2.47 and still be a compliant svcd. just demux/remux w/ TMPG.

    the more pressing problems are:
    1 Macrovision
2 Lousy VBR control. we need min/max/avg more than anything else.
    3 a/v sync problems

    other minor problems
4 SDE headers are wrong, should match what's captured (i.e. 480x480 should be 480x480, not played back on my dvd as 480x540)
5 what is visual masking? is this just 'noise reduction'? a fancy way of saying it, like 'auditory masking' in mp3 means "we throw out stuff we don't think you'll notice much"

Yeah Visual MAsking is A Noise Filter..

as For SVCD in MMC.. hahaha..

    its Easy..
and actually MAX SVCD Video Bitrate is 2600Mbit/sec INterlaced and 2520 De-interlaced..

Leacing interlaced reduces playback compatiblity in DVD players becuase VCD is An De-Interlaced Format and SVCD is Played Back using VCD sets in the DVD - Decoding Process..
cept SVCD is a Higher res and MPEG-1 instead of MPEG-1
