A client of mine wants me to put the final output of a 3min. promo video on a cd-rom. i asked if i could just put a quicktime or mpeg file on a cd-r for him, but he would like for the video to launch and begin playing automatically upon instertion. do i need to purchase a CD-ROM authoring program such as Movieworks to do this? or is there another way. right now i'm working with final cut pro 2, media cleaner pro 4, and toast 5.1.3. thanks.

The best program I have found to do this is Macromedia's Director 8.5, although I am not sure if there is a Mac version, anyway the end product looks very professional and autoruns.
