I downloaded an MPEG file and wanted to convert it to a VCD using Nero, however Nero errors out immediately and says it's not the correct format. As a result, I decided to re-encode the movie using TMPGE, I have tried several version including Pro, but they all slow down to a crawl after the 45% point. It takes about an hour to get encode 45% and then it indicates it will take another 8 hours to encode the rest. I have even tried to cut the file and encode it one piece at a time and then merge the files later using TMPGE, but it file immediately. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

best bet try another encoding software because not all mpgs are the same. the reason is that there are alot of compression codecs to choose from. TMPGE is taking a long time to re-encode because it is having trouble reading the codec which is slowing it down. just download different encoding software from vcdhelper and all so search the net for other encoders.
