  1. -Hey!-

I know this girl who is capturing VHS and converting them to VCDs for trading. But I have problems with every MPEG that she's ever created. They play for about 5 seconds, then scramble. I tried analyzing the MEPGs in VirtualDub, but it was a bit overwhelming for me. So, I uploaded an app. 30 second clip:

If someone could please give me any info on what all is wrong with the clip, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I also capture shows to trade, so it really bothers me that hers are floating around done wrong. To fix those she has done means I have to convert the MPEGs again, which leads to loss of quality. I want to be able to e-mail her with tips to do a better job. Otherwise, this girl will have converted every VHS to crappy VCDs that don't work!

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to look at the 30 second clip linked above!

  2. Forgot to mention, this can't be a problem of the wrong type of disc or burning at the wrong speed or anything like that. I use the same brand/density of disc and the same burner. All the VCDs that I have created and all the vid that I've captured works great. Anything I get from the girl, even plain MPEGs, get the above symptoms!

  4. Yeah, it works fine on my computer, too. But I get the problems I described in my first post when I play it in my DVD player. Also, I'm not asking about the quality of the video, which is good/bad in various places. If someone could analyze the clip and tell me why it's a piece of crap I'll be your best friend.
