now i would like to take those files about 1.0 gigs for 1 hour 45 min show and make divx file it should REDUCE the size down to a point where i think it will fit on standard CD rom 700mb

ok got the Virtual DUB 1.4.10 version.. went to how to here but they dont match.. select und BOTH VIDOE AUDIO FULL proccessing is nowhere to be found on my program .. then under video compression only DIVX 5.02 codec not this Low motion/high motion choice ...leading me to believe that i have updated version of program with dated directions.

i almost got it figured out i do get the file loaded then processed but 2 yes 2 files created another video file which plays great but is 1.5 gig up from original 1.0 gig... and another even icontagged DIVX i click it and lo and behold the movie plays and the file size is about 500mbs but NO SOUND.

  3. I think it means, under the video menu, choose "full processing" and under the audio menu, choose "full processing"
The high motion/low motion codecs were DivX 3, you have 5, so you don't need to worry about those.
The DivX audio was part of the DivX 3 package (I think, that's how it showed up on my system.) Since you have DivX 5, you don't need to worry about it. MP3 is fine.
I don't know why it would produce two files. What did you do to save the file? Virtual Dub has about a half dozen different save options under the file menu. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the program on this computer to check it out.
My guess would be in choosing audio options.
