  1. Hi, new to the group,
My problem is when I convert PAL files to NTSC or vice versa using TmpgEnc, the end result doesn't run smoothly either on my computer or on my DVD player. I was wondering, is there something I can do to smooth it out.

Looking at your way again, there actually isn't a lot of difference between what you do and what I suggested. Firstly "convert[ing] the WAV file from 23.976 fps to 25 fps" is actually the same thing as shrinking the wav. It's just a different way of describing the process, as I hope you will agree wav files don't have associated framerates. The stage in which you recombine the wav with the avi is unnecessary, because when you now change the framerate of the avi in Virtualdub, the audio remains unchanged. Which is why if you don't process the audio separately, changing the framerate of the avi in VirtualDub will change the video to 25fps but leave the audio unchanged, and lead to lack of sync. You may as well, using your method, just use your processed audio and the 25fps avi as the audio and video inputs to TMPGenc. Whether you use Besweet or Soundforge etc to alter the audio is just a matter of preference.
