  1. Dear lord this has got to be the worst program I have ever used. I never liked EZ cd creator, too many bugs but this time I am forced to use it because I have to burn a .cif iso file made by I-Author. I'm using version 5 of EZ CD by the way. The software sure loves restarting my system, not just because it needs to but mostly because of errors.

The first time I tried to burn the .cif image file, it spit out the cd at 96%, inserted it back in and completely froze my system. After a restart, tired to burn .cif image again and software froze my system at initializing engine screen. Couldn't soft restart at all, after 5 min of sturgling froze my computer again...hard reset. After boot went to update page and updated to latest version. After restart (argh, how many times?) ran software, choice to burn image was gone!!! WTF? Couldn't burn image. Uninstalled software, reinsalled origonal version......restart (grr). After boot tried burning image again, froze at 96% like the first time....()#$)(@$)@)@#@#!!! I HATE EZ CD CREATOR!!!

There has to be something else to burn .cif images, there just has too!!! I just need this dumb software to do one thing, burn the image, that's it! It can't even do that. This program has go to have the most errors/user-usage ratio. For every 30sec of using the program, you have to wait 3min for the system to restart. Not to mention no work done at all.

Well you could load the .cif into a ISO buster, then you can save out the .dat file (which is the movie) you could then use VCDGear to convert the .dat file to a .mpg file. The last bit might not be necessary.

Iso Buster, CDMarge,WinISO all read ISO files

  3. Thanks for the help KingJohn, I'll try that once my PC is working properly .

Well this definitely proves EZcd creator is the worst. I heard EZcd creator 4 will work better. So I uninstalled 5, reboot, installed 4, reboot. Program won't run, gives some error but not only that, it removed my CDRW drive . Device Manager sais it cannot load the driver for the device. Hmm, now why would a program which writes CD's remove the CDRW driver? Not sure how I'm going to fix this .

One thing for sure, I will never install EZcd creator on my PC!

Cif files are the proprietary image format of Ez CD Creator. There is no other software program which can burn a cif file.

Ez CD creator 5 and up changed the format of cif images so it will not support I-Author created cif files any longer. You should not be suprised the burning of the cif failed with version 5, its not supposed to. I do agree with you though, Ez CD creator is a pretty horrible program but you really can't blame it for screwing up because the documentation is pretty clear on this. Good luck reparing the damage that it did with your system configuration.

There is no disk imaging software which can open an I-Author created cif file, only ones created by Ez CD creator itself so ISO buster will not work. Anyway extracting the video track kinda defeats the purpose of using I-Author in the first place.

Get the latest beta version of CDMage from the tools section. Load the cif file and click file/save as and it will automatically save it as bin and cue format. In the top right change the sector size to 2352 if its not already. When its done converting you can burn your bin and cue file using fireburner, CDRwin, CDRAO, or even Nero though I don't recommend doing that. To the best of my knowledge CDMage is the only program which can convert I-Author created cif files to any other image format.

Download WinISO, or CDmarge from kazaa

    WinISO.v5.3 B23.exe
    CDmage1-02-1B5 Transfer.exe

They both open all CIF files, including the latest Easy Cd creator.

WinISO, Open up folder with .dat file, right click and select extract. At the end ignore error, continue. Now use VCDGear to convert header back to standard .mpg

Kingjohn reread my post because you obviously misunderstood. The cif files that I-Author creates are not the same as those that any version of Ez CD creator creates.

The only programs that can open an I-Author created cif are Ez Cd Creator 4.xx and lower and CDMage.

WinISO and Isobuster will not open I-Author created cif files. If you don't believe me then just try it, I just did.

When I try to extract *.cif files made by I-Author, I get an error "file not supported"?
After you installed WinIso you need to apply the patch supplied, don't run this patch until you have entered the serial number to register the program.

You must reboot your computer after you run the patch. In use the file is temporary converted to a bin file before extraction of the file will take place. Note if the .CIF contains any special settings these will be lost.

    http://www.winiso.com/download.htm

"About the unregistered version of WinISO:
The limit of unregistered version are as following:
    1. Can not extract a file greater than 3MB.
    2. Can not convert an image greater than 100MB.
    3. Can not save an image greater than 100MB.
    4. Can not save an image greater than 100MB as new file."

According to the manufacturer of winiso these are the ONLY limitations of the unregistered version.

It looks like you got your little quote from the nfo for a crack, which isn't reliable in and of itself, but whoever wrote that probably assumed that an I-Author cif was like any other cif and that the error must have been caused by one of the limitations I listed above.

I'll say it again, Winiso and IsoBuster and any other disk imaging tool other than CDMage will NOT be able to open an I-Author created cif. I am using the latest full registered version of Winiso and I still get the error. I have been using I-Author for about 6 years now and believe me when I say that I have tried converting its cif files to other disk images with every tool I could find. To the best of my knowledge CDMage is the only program which has specifically added support for I-Author created cifs.

Before you post again please just try opening an I-Author created cif file in Winiso or Isobuster and don't just believe what you read on the internet.

Kingjohn obviously that is not true because I can assure you that Winiso will NOT do this job and I'm beginning to suspect that you don't even own I-Author otherwise you would simply verify this for yourself. You should not comment on things which you have not even tried yourself because it only misleads people.

It is obvious you don't have the right tools. You also seam to think that some patch I use is a means of defeating the serial number, which its not. I have everything you can think of, Which I have purchased, but when they don't work on a particular function I go search for answers.

In this case I downloaded the same program I already had registered, and applied several patches, this one does make WinIso work with I-Author created CIF files. Now just because you have the original WinIso which won't handle these files, means nothing at all to anyone.

Most people would go and search and research this, but some people like yourself are happy just to except that the standard version wont do the job, and pass on only the information you know. When someone offers an alternative method, which can be done with a little research you simply dismiss it because you don't know anything about it !

    William,
Sorry I don't provide links to download hack's you can search using Kazaa for "WinISO.v5.3 B23.exe" 1.488Mb which contains WinIso and 3 patch files.

I wont reply to this again, Seek and you shall find

If this patch does in fact exist then you are right, I apparantly don't have the right tools but a simple search? Have you looked for it on Kaaza lately? I've been searching for it everyday since you posted the specific filename. Being a peer to peer program I can't help it if those few fellow peers with that specific file aren't logged on. Believe me, I tried dozens of times and on other filesharing programs as well. Also nothing comes up on http either. Its not hard to find unofficial patches but I could not find this one. I'm not saying it doesnt exist I'm saying its not easy to find and I need some help.

If the patch doesn't unlock any features of the shareware version or compromise the program's security measures than its not illegal. Please post a link to this patch or send it to me so I can verify it for myself. If it it works I will be more than happy to admit that I am wrong in this matter.

I just re-read your previous post again and it seems that if Winiso does in fact open these cif files that it can only extract the video track and not actually convert the disk image or preserve any of the other files. What's the use in that? I-Author's multiplexor can multiplex program streams for use in other programs. The only reason to use I-Author itself is for its menu building capabilities which will be lost in this extraction.

I am wondering though, if you only use programs that you know work then why did you recommend to use Isobuster? Is there some patch for this also? I find it hard to believe that anyone would pay that much money for I-Author (you said you bought all your software) and not use it regularly. If you make a practice of using Winiso to extract the video tracks from I-Author cifs then why didn't you mention Winiso in the first pplace, instead of suggesting Isobuster which definitely does not work?

Hey how bout a truce ok? If NO searches bring up any answers on this and NO one else has ever heard of this patch than how am I to know better? All I want is SOME form of proof so help me out.
