Got a small prob

Downloaded a movie and can't get it to play any ideas plz.
Says its an Unknown Format and Nero's having none of it either,if i click on preview i get the message"Video not available,cannot find 'Vids:divx' decompressor.
Any help here please,probably a minor thing but it's new to me

The codec needed to play the movie... Is not installed on your computer. Go dashing off and download the Nimo codec pack, it has everything you need... Well almost, it dont have DivX 5 codec

i think he needs the divx codec, the "vids:divx" for example is the missing codec. i got the same message once but mine was "vids:mp43". never could find a codec to get it to work...

Vids:divx = DivX 5 www.divx.com
Vids:mp43 = M$ MPEG-4 V3 (Nimo) or mpg4c32.dll (Mpeg4 Codec.exe)

Download and install the Nimo codec pack, then your AVI will play just fine. You can then edit it later if you wish.

Sorry to be a pain but i downloaded the Nimo codec pack and it still wont play.How comes the AVI file says it runs for 61 minutes 27 seconds yet it's only a 139MB in size.I reckon its duff but as i said i really have'nt got a clue here so if anyone can point me in the right direction before i delete it i would be grateful

I downloaded an avi that was 98 minutes and 197 meg, turns out it was
an asf file in disquise. Boy, was I surprised. BUT, your problem sounds
like a codec for Divx due to the message your received.
Did you double click on the Nimo.exe file? This should install the codecs.
Not sure but you may have to reboot after this.

try downloading the latest divx codec (version 5)

and it depends on the bitrate... tell you the truth, u can fit 100 hours in just 100MB but its gonna look like crap! a higher file size with a low running time means better quality. or higher bitrate = a better video.

If it says "'Vids:divx' decompressor" this is the DivX 5 at www.divx.com or download the pro with a keypen from Kazaa

Better to use Sig2dat and download verified movies from Kazza
