  1. Hi all,

This is my first post on these forums.

I have just bought an OEM version of the above card.

When I connect my VCR to the card's composite-in port and run the Video In application, I can see the image from the VCR but there is a 'thickish black line' inset from the right hand edge ??!!?? This happens regardless of the resolution I look at the image in. I have setup the correct signal ie NTSC or PAL and it's not that. The image is fine APART from this line. I tried capturing anyway to see if it was a problem with the Video In app but the captured MPEG file also has the 'black line' on it ??!!??

Has anyone, who has this card (and by browsing this forum I know there are lot of you), seen this problem before. And if so, do you know what the problem is ?? Could it just be a problem with the composite in ?? I haven't tried S-VDEO yet as I don't have the relevant cables.

Hopefully, it is not a duff card.

Also, I have read elsewhere that despite having the socket on the card, ATI have disabled the ability to capture via S-VIDEO. Is this true ??

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Regards,

  2. Well, I have this card (ATI RADEON 64 DDR VIVO), and
I tried VCR and video camera, and I did not have this black line.
Although from camera I have some yellow/orange but very
faded about 6-8 pixel wide line.
This is result of control signals, as I've been told.
Anyway, you can cat it off any time you encode,
    if it's that bad

This is not control signals on the edge of the video in window. This is a sort on 4/5 pixel wide vertical line which (with a small window) appears about 1 cm in from the RHS but moves further away as the window size increases ??!!?? If up the video size to largethen I get this black line in about the middle of the window and another 1/2 pixel wide white line where the black line was ??!!??

I am trying to work out if I have a duff card or not.

If I play a pre-cut VideoCD in the VCD app I don't get a perfect picture.

I am beginning to think the overlay is out on the card ??

I have justed done some more testing ... the line(s) are still there but if I take a snapshot then they are not in the picture ??

I have yet to capture some mpeg and try it on another machine. When I capture to MPEG and then play in it back in the File Player the line is still there ??

    Thoughts ??

Can you play other clips, other than the ones you made without the line? If you get the same problem, it might be the card.
As far as I know ATI didn't disable the S-video, but only made it so it could be played S-video out, too bad. Otherwise, I'm surprised.
This card has great feedback on the Capture Card Forum. Good luck.

It does seem the be the overlay 'function' of the card. When I capture (using Video In) and play the captured file (using File Player) the line is there. When I play the captured file on another machine the line is not there. This was my main concern.

But now I know it is only there in certain apps on my machine then I can live with that ... now I no it isn't actually on the captured MPEG file.

    Thanks for the help.
