  1. i rip my movies using smart ripper, i then encode to divx using flask.
    next, i encode to mpeg2 using tmpeg.

    when some of these encoded files (not all) are opened in either ulead program, i get the error "too many gop's in a frame"

    now, wtf does that mean, because it's not listed anywhere in the help files.
    and what can i do to keep it from happening anymore?

  2. It really should say "too many frames in a GOP".
    I would suggest Tsunami MPEG Encoder at http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html or examine the settings of your current encoder.
    You would be surprised how many millions of people never look at an applications options.
    Change the pattern to IBPBPBPBPBPBPB by having 1 I frame, 6 P frames and 1 B frame per GOP.
    Apparently DVD cant have more than 15 frames in a GOP...horribly inefficient but there you go!
