SERIOUS HELP NEEDED!!!!!

Who ever can figure this out is a genious!

I need somebody who knows what they are doing to help me out. Lately I have had this problem when I go to START-APPLICATIONS-and then hover over an application. It is supposed to show more boxes for that appllication but mine just shows an outline of a box and is clear and I can't access it. This happens for any of them in the applications menu.

Also Microsoft Word is having a problem. I can't right click and have a word come up for a spelling change. Things like this are happening.

I have checked for viruses and ran checkDisk as well as norton error checking and nothing seems to fix it. I also defragged as well.

Thats a wild thing to happen. Have you run system file checker to see if any of your system files are corrupted? If you havent, try it. Go to Start-Programs-Accessories-SystemTools-System Information- and then choose Tools. If nothing is wrong, try to reinstall Windows over your current one, dont reformat, just run setup inside of windows. That SHOULD get rid of it.
