Very often there is a sync problem when you don't type in the same framerate in video and the same khz in audio settings as the original when enconding.
MMT uses mplex which I guess can't handle DivX video. I considered using it for Mpeg1 output.

  2. Hey , I got a probem using ffmpegX.
I created a 6.3 GB VOB file of a DVD using OSEx.
Starting ffmpegX using the DIVX4/5 codec, calculating the bitrate at 650kbit for 129mins to 690 MB, Videosize to 720x400 (16:9) Framerate PAL, Audio mp3, 96kbit, 44100Hz, Stereo, Track2 (the prefered Language track on the DVD)
Advanced settings are at default, also post processing at default

I start encoding and the process in the terminal stops with this log:

    --------------------------- Here's the terminal log -------------------------------

    /Users/name/Desktop/ffmpegX_0.0.2/ffmpegX.app//Contents/Resources/ffmpeg -i /Volumes/X-Server\ HD/Kreation/Neuer\ Ordner/RO/RtrOktbr.vob -y -f avi -vcodec mpeg4 -map 0.0:0.0 -b 649,517643410853 -s 720x400 -r 25 -g 240 -me epzs -qmin 1 -qmax 9 -benchmark -acodec mp3 -ab 96 -ar 44100 -ac 2 -map 0.2:0.1 /Volumes/X-Server\ HD/Kreation/Neuer\ Ordner/RO/rtroktbr.avi

What's wrong with the VOB??? In VideolanClient it plays correctly!

    HEEEEELLLLLPPPP!

  3. in OSEx, have you set Fmt=PS and Seg=Title & decryption activated?
when the problem will be solved, don't forget to set audio sampling rate to 48000 for DVD (not 44100).

  4. I have a few divx avis here that encode to mpg just fine using QuickTime/Toast-Plugin. But it takes forever and looks shitty
So I tried ffmpegX and was pretty amazed by the quality of the resulting mpg and the speed of encoding. Also the interface looks great. But: I always get an mpg where the the picture will stop after a minute when the sound goes on. The movie is complete, I can check that by fast forwarding, but doesn't run like supposed too.
I tried many different settings, what am I doing wrong?

    TIA, Udo

  5. You should be ready for some questions. What you want to do with that MPEG? Are you authoring a xVCD for playback in your DVD player? a VCD? do you want to play it on your computer? Which settings are you using?

  6. notice: I'm the same guy you just wrote a mail.
But I'll answer here for all.

DivX files don't run well on my 400 MHz iMac. So I always reencoded them to .mpg using QuickTime and the Toast plugin. I don't care about VCDs, I just play them in QuickTime.
But I never liked the output quality. Using ffmpegX the picture quality looks much better. I use settings that seem appropriate for mpeg1: 1052 kilobit/s, MP2 audio with 128 kilobit/s and 44 khz. I tried various advanced options, but always the movie will stutter or stop with the sound continuing. Fixing in VCDGear doesn't help.

    Regards, Udo

  7. Your 400 Mhz iMac is probably powered with camomille, as 3ivx D4 can playback DivX fullscreen flawlessly on a 400 Mhz iMac.

Set GOP to 15 or 18 for mpeg1 encoding.
