I have a few mpeg files im tryign to compress to avi files and for some reason i keep getting sync errors. It can compress about 30 mins of video then i get the sync error. I tried compressing a friens episode and i didnt get a sync error but the sound came out all distorted; the video was going in real time and the audio was going in slow mo.

I guess you selected a codec for the AVI, possibly a DivX, but did you also select a codec for the Audio ?, and if you did, did you select one that matches the frequency of the original mpeg (Possibly 44.1Khz) and did you select a bitrate of high quality or a very low one.

This is tlhe setting I had it in
Video-Divx MPEG 4-Fast Motion
Audio- Divx Audio 64 kbps 44khz stereo for divx -
Yes but you talk about 2 problems, one being the audio out of sync, and another producing bad audio "distorted" "Slow"
What is the original mpeg ?
If you did manage a convertion without a sync error, then you only need to work on the quality of the MP3 "64 kbps 44khz" 64 might be too low, is the original 44.1Khz or 48Khz ?
